Receiver Tanks

Blackhawk Equipment carries quality receiver tanks designed and constructed in accordance with ASME Section VIII Div-I Code for compressed air storage usage. All tanks are “U”stamped and registered with the National Board of Pressure Vessel Inspectors . Most air receiver tanks provide temporary storage for compressed air. It also helps your air compression system run more efficiently. An air receiver tank has three main functions in your compressed air system:

  • It stores compressed air that can be used for shorter, high-demand events.
  • It provides a constant air signal to compressor controls to avoid running out of air.
  • When used as a “wet tank”, it acts like a secondary heat exchanger, increasing the efficiency of your air dryer or other related systems.

Proven Performance & Legendary Durability

For over 50 years, oil-flooded rotary screw compressors have been the workhorse of modern industry. Blackhawk Equipment partners with Sullair to deliver solutions that go beyond basic air compression. Our units feature US-engineered rotors and optimized air ends designed to lower your kW/cfm ratio—delivering maximum air power with minimum energy consumption.

Whether for general manufacturing, automotive, or heavy-duty industrial applications, our oil-flooded systems offer a maintenance-friendly design and some of the quietest dBA ratings on the market.

Pressure Vessels

Vertical Air Receivers

Space-Saving Storage Solutions

Vertical air receivers are the preferred choice for maximizing storage capacity in facilities where floor space is at a premium. These ASME-coded vessels provide essential compressed air storage to dampen pressure pulsations and stabilize system flow, ensuring consistent performance for downstream equipment.

  • ASME Certified: Designed and constructed in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for maximum safety.
  • Versatile Mounting: Available with base rings, top plate platforms, or extended top plate platforms to securely mount compressors or dryers directly on top.
  • Wide Range: Capacities ranging from 12 to 5,000 gallons to suit everything from small workshops to large industrial plants.
  • High Pressure Options: Standard ratings of 165-200 psi, with high-pressure variants up to 300 psi available for specialized applications.
  • Capacity: 12 – 5,000 Gallons.
  • Pressure: 165 – 200 psi (Standard) / 300 psi (Select Models).
  • Orientation: Vertical.
  • Construction: Carbon Steel (Standard).

Horizontal Air Receivers

Low-Profile Industrial Tanks

Horizontal air receivers offer a stable, low-center-of-gravity storage solution, ideal for installations with height restrictions or for mounting heavy compressor skids. These robust tanks are engineered to withstand the rigors of industrial environments while providing large volume storage to meet peak air demand.

  • Flexible Installation: Mounting options include legs, standard top plates, extended top plates, and “grasshopper” configurations for custom equipment setups.
  • Durable Finishes: Available with interior and exterior powder coating or wet epoxy finishes to resist corrosion in harsh or humid environments.
  • Massive Volume: Sizes up to 2,560 gallons allow for significant energy storage, reducing compressor cycling and wear.
  • Stable Platform: The low profile design makes them perfect for skid-mounted packages where overhead clearance is limited.
  • Capacity: 10 – 2,560 Gallons.
  • Pressure: 165 – 200 psi (Standard) / 300 psi (Select Models).
  • Orientation: Horizontal.
  • Finish: Powder Coat / Wet Epoxy Options.

Vacuum Receivers

High-Performance Vacuum Storage

Designed to withstand full vacuum conditions, these receivers act as a buffer for vacuum systems, ensuring a steady suction level and protecting pumps from short-cycling. Engineered with reinforced walls to prevent implosion, they are critical for maintaining stable vacuum pressure in medical and industrial applications.

  • Full Vacuum Rating: Rated for 29.9” Hg, ensuring safe operation even under deep vacuum conditions.
  • System Stability: Provides necessary volume to handle sudden demand spikes without losing system vacuum pressure.
  • Heavy Duty Build: Constructed with thicker walls and reinforced heads specifically to resist external atmospheric pressure.
  • Service Ready: Includes multiple ports for gauges, drain valves, and connection piping.
  • Capacity: 60 – 400 Gallons.
  • Vacuum Rating: 29.9” Hg.
  • Material: Carbon Steel.
